Spread The Holiday Fear With YULETIDE TERROR
For many horror fans, this can be a difficult season. Halloween has passed, and
suddenly our interests are back to being niche. It’s that time of year when the pumpkins and bats get packed away and are seemingly instantly replaced with wreaths and reindeer. It’s the season when the HOA starts to get on your case about leaving the zombies in your yard for too long. It can be a melancholy time. But for horror fans in the know, the Christmas season can be every bit as full of murder and mayhem as even that most hallowed October. Fortunately for us, a group of such knowledgable horror aficianados has seen fit to assemble a whole book on the subject.
YULETIDE TERROR: CHRISTMAS HORROR ON FILM AND TELEVISION looks to be
the perfect Christmas gift for the horror fan in your life (or the perfect coffee table book to treat yourself with). Acclaimed voices in horror such as Michael Gingold (Former Editor-in- Chief, Fangoria), Zach Clark (Writer/Director, WHITE REINDEER), Shelagh Rowan-Legg (Author of THE SPANISH FANTASTIC, and writer at ScreenAnarchy), and dozens more have come together to create what looks to be the definitive volume on Christmas horror.
The book features looks back at classics such as BLACK CHRISTMAS and SILENT
NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT, as well as lesser-known holiday horror such as Hammer Films’ CASH ON DEMAND and Rober Morin’s POW! POW! NOEL. It features interviews with horror icons such as Fred Dekker (Director, MONSTER SQUAD, Tales From The Crypt’s AND ALL
THROUGH THE HOUSE). It has writing on Santa’s historical horror roots in European folklore, and essays detailing why those spooky winter months are intrinsically linked to ghosts, ghouls, and all the things that make up our favorite genre. It’s even got illustrated comic reviews from cartoonist Rick Trembles. Basically, it’s jam-packed with more holiday horror content than you could fit in your letter to Santa.
YULETIDE TERROR is being released by micro-publisher Spectacular Optical (named for the evil corporation in Cronenberg’s VIDEODROME), and is available for pre-purchase now at their official website.
