For the most die-hard horror fans, October is their December, and Halloween is their Christmas, but even better. October 31st is the day we get to dress up as someone else, someone that reflects our darkest reflections, and a time when we can bring the monster out of our closet to display to the world.
Let’s take a look at some ways that we can bring out our inner demons and slasher faves for this Halloween, and a few ways we can make them look better than the guy down the street trying to do the same thing.
1) BILLY THE PUPPET – SAW
If there’s one thing that James Wan loves, it’s his puppets. His most famous of all, Billy, made his debut in the original SAW, and audiences fell in love with the little creepy thing on a tricycle. Billy has since made an appearance in each of the subsequent SAW sequels, and a cameo in James Wan’s other puppet horror, DEAD SILENCE.

2) ELEVEN – STRANGER THINGS
In addition to the nostalgia of the ‘80s, the callbacks to some of favorite movies and TV shows, faceless monsters, and an amazing cast, we all fell in love with “Stranger Things” telekinetic heroine, Eleven. Hit the link above to put together your own Eleven costume, grab your Eggos, and head out to those parties in style!
3) JASON VOORHEES – FRIDAY THE 13TH
There are a few classic staples for any Halloween get together, with one of those being the quintessential slasher king, Jason Voorhees. This is one of those costumes that remains popular throughout time, is easy to put together, and will serve you well for years to come. With talk of a new film coming out next year, it’s guaranteed to be just as popular next year as well!

4) MICHAEL MYERS – HALLOWEEN
It doesn’t get more classic than this, folks. That Shatner mask. Those coveralls. That kitchen knife. Michael Myers came home on Halloween night, 1978, and has haunted every babysitter since. With franchise creator John Carpenter on board to deliver another sequel, this is going to be a hot one for years to come.

5) FREDDY KRUEGER – A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
He’s the man from your dreams. The man, the myth, the infamous Freddy! His scarred face, red and green sweater, Fedora, and clawed glove are as iconic as Santa Claus himself. While there are masks to go along with the kill sweater, many people choose to do their own burn makeup to crisp things up. Check out some tips below!

6) SAMARA MORGAN – THE RING
Samara crawled out of the TV and into our hearts in the American remake of The Ring in 2002. This costume is easy to put together, but hard to forget, unless you receive a phone call that says “Seven days.” The link above shows you how to put together your own Samara costume.

7) ASH WILLIAMS – THE EVIL DEAD
He’s a loud-mouthed, selfish braggart. But when evil rains on your parade, he turns into a chainsaw-handed, shotgun wielding Deadite killing machine. And still manages to get the girl. You can put together your own Necronomicon-reading hero with a few easy pieces. But don’t read from the book. Seriously, just don’t.

8) LEATHERFACE – THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE
Toby Hooper changed the game with his little 1974 independant film, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, and with it, one of the most iconic horror monsters of all time. Large, lumbering, and wearing a mask stitched together from human skin, Leatherface and his chainsaw have been scaring the crap out of backwoods travellers ever since. While you might think it would be hard to put together a costume like this, hit the link above and grab one of your own!

9) PINHEAD – HELLRAISER
You will be hard-pressed to find anyone that you know who hasn’t conjured up the image of Pinhead at least once in their mind. Credited only as “Lead Cenobite” in Clive Barker’s original haunted house film HELLRAISER, Pinhead has grown to be a cultural icon, and can be summoned from a puzzle box to brighten up any party. Just make sure you dodge the hooks and chains. Also below are some amazing makeup tips if you want to create your own Cenobite makeup for Halloween.

10) GOOD GUY DOLL – CHILD’S PLAY
Even if he didn’t suddenly come to life and try to kill everyone around him, Chucky, the immensely popular Good Guy Doll, still looks more on the creepy side than cute. Our own Tom Holland brought us one of the greatest killer dolls to ever exist in 1988, and to this day, whether he’s searching for a bride, or bringing in his own spawn, we can’t get enough of Chucky.
