Day One of San Diego Comic Con is in the books, and what a creepy and science fiction-y day it was!

FOX did an unexpected time warp when a 25-minute sneak peek at the revamped The Rocky Horror Picture Show was shown during the TV movie’s panel.  Reports are that the new version of the classic film is relatively faithful to the Tim Curry-led original, although director Kenny Ortega has admitted to tweaking a few things to bring a new flavor to the project.

American Horror Story, always a franchise ready and willing to do things a bit differently, came out of left field yesterday and might have given fans a taste of what to expect for the upcoming sixth season of the show.  During a virtual reality experience hosted by FX, one moment caught the attention of many AHS fans.  While most of the experience was a familiar jaunt down AHS lane for fans, one scene in particular raised some eyebrows.  A scene in the middle of the woods, at night, with the audience tied to a stake made some people think of Coven, although this was reportedly a much darker and sinister scene, where figures in robes ultimately levitate towards you and light the sticks beneath your feet on fire.  Perhaps a hint as to the theme of the upcoming season?

An emotional highlight of Day One was when the cast of Star Trek Beyond paid tribute to the late Anton Yelchin before the film was screened at an outdoor IMAX theatre, complete with live orchestra.

“As wonderful as this is to be here with all of you, and to be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, there is something wrong tonight.  There is something missing tonight, there is someone missing tonight.”  said director and producer J.J. Abrams.

“Anton should be here.  Anton’s parents are here.. We love their son and if I could ask everyone to have a moment of silence for our dear friend, Anton.”

The cast of the film wore black Star Trek lapel pins to honor Yelchin, whose character Pavel Chekov will not be recast in future sequels, per Abrams.

In lighter but still sad news for fans all over the country, it was announced that the MTV hit series Teen Wolf will be ending it’s run this upcoming season, at the 100-episode mark.

More importantly, though, Dylan O’Brien, who plays Stiles on the show and was injured in a significant accident while filming Maze Runner: The Death Cure, will be returning for Season 6 and is reported to be recovering just fine from his injuries.  Good news!

As a new day dawns on the left coast, the horror world waits with bated breath for the first trailer from the upcoming season seven of The Walking Dead.  Fans will also have a chance to check out the world premiere screening of the Ash vs Evil Dead season two premiere.  The fun has just begun out in San Diego, so be sure to keep it here at Terror Time for all of your Comic Con updates and headlines!
