Crook Hides from Cops in a Lake, Gets Eaten by Gator
Note to crooks: Don’t hide from the police in Lake Placid!
Fox News in Florida has reported on the sad fate of Mathew Riggins: The suspected burglar tried to give cops in Orlando the slip by jumping into a pond for cover. That’s when an 11-foot alligator decided to make a meal out of him!
At first, no one realized exactly what had happened. Fox reports: “Brevard County Sheriff’s Maj. Tod Goodyear says 22-year-old Riggins told his girlfriend he would be in Barefoot Bay to commit burglaries with another suspect. Authorities received calls Nov. 13 about two suspicious men in black walking behind homes and investigated. Riggins was reported missing the next day.”
His body was finally recovered 10 days later—well, most of it at least! Divers cornered and killed the suspected man-eater and, sure enough, they found Riggins’s hand and foot in the belly of the beast! Local resident Laura Farris has a gift for stating the blatantly obvious; her assessment:
“He hid in the wrong place.”
