Is This Life-Like Mannequin Actually an Embalmed Body?

La Popular is the most famous bridal shop in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico, where it’s been an institution for over 75 years. While the dresses are of the highest quality, it’s an incredibly life-like mannequin that brings curious onlookers from around the world. Nicknamed La Pascualita, the mannequin is so detailed and arresting that many believe it’s actually a pristinely preserved corpse. La Popular’s owner, Pascuala Esparza, lost his only daughter on her wedding day after she was bitten by a black widow spider; she was buried in her wedding dress. It wasn’t long after this that La Pascualita first adorned the bridal shop’s window. Locals became convinced that the mannequin was actually Esparaza’s daughter, despite the proprietor’s fierce denials. While the story seems unlikely, La Pascualita’s intricate details are astonishing: Glass eyes, real human hair, and hands that bear individual wrinkles. She even has varicose veins in her legs! Add rumors of mysterious cold spots and other supernatural happenings in and around La Popular, and you’ve got a local legend likely to endure for centuries.

You can visit La Popular and view La Pascualita yourself, so long as you abide by the shop’s strict “No Touching” policy; offers detailed directions HERE:

Thanks to You Tube user Deonicius Diez for uploading some incredible video documentation of La Pascualita (sorry, no subtitles).

Even skeptics walk away from La Pascualita uncertain what to believe. Some actually regard the

mannequin as a saint! One thing’s for certain: She’s no ordinary piece of window dressing.
