The DC cinematic universe has had some hiccups along the way but fans are hoping this turns around with WONDER WOMAN, JUSTICE LEAGUE and Ben Affleck’s THE BATMAN. Reports earlier in 2016 were claiming that Ben’s script was near completion and preproduction was moving along but this may not be accurate.
In an interview with The Guardian he was asked about directing THE BATMAN and he stated “That’s the idea. But it’s not a set thing and there’s no script. If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.” This isn’t saying that it isn’t going to happen, but it raises questions. This update is disheartening to fans who feel like Affleck nailed the role despite script issues with BATMAN VS SUPERMAN.
Hopefully he is just downplaying this project until the script is perfect. With his tease of Deathstroke as the villain, it would be a major blow to the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) to miss out on a new BATMAN movie. It is also possible that some of these upcoming DC films being put on hold until the studio can determine the success of JUSTICE LEAGUE. We will keep you posted on all news regarding THE BATMAN.
