Every once in awhile a film comes along with a premise that comes out of left field that’s quirky, endearing, and totally unexpected.Such is the case with the upcoming COLOSSAL, starring Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis, Tim Nelson, and Dan Stevens.

Jason Sudeikis

COLOSSAL, Directed by Nacho Vigalondo and distributed by NEON, a teaser trailer dropped to give us our first look at just how quirky it is. Check it out below:

Anne Hathaway stars as Gloria, a woman who moves back to her hometown from New York after losing her job and boyfriend, and while trying to find herself, witnesses a kaiju attack on Seoul, South Korea. While being stunned by the unbelievable monster attack, she starts to discover that she seems to have a strange connection to the beast. She finds that she can control the monster, including making it dance. One can only imagine the shenanigans that will ensue.

The film appears to deal with several layers, on the outside being a sci-fi action-thriller while dealing with deeper issues with the central character struggling with alcoholism and depression while being thrust into this fantastical situation. Anne Hathaway reportedly took a look at the script and loved it immediately, making the move herself to get involved with the picture.
