Universal has blocked a date for a third monster movie. Presidents weekend Friday Feb 15th, 2019. This follows The Mummy starring Tom Cruise, and directed by Kurtzman, on June 9, 2017 and another untitled monster pic on April 13, 2018.

Deadline is reporting that it’s not clear whether Uni’s reboot of The Invisible Man starring Johnny Depp will go to either the 2018 or 2019 date. There’s a multitude of characters that are being mined for this monster franchise. Mike Fleming broke the news about Invisible Man back in February. The Invisible Man was released in 1933 and starred Claude Rains as a scientist who finds a way to become invisible. James Whale, who was behind Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein, directed.

Re-igniting Uni’s monster library has become a priority for Donna Langley, and the studio has booked 3 A-listers in Cruise, Depp, Crowe that Marvel would envy. Word is their going after Scarlett Johansson for ‘The Creature from The Black Lagoon.

Currently, there aren’t any other major studio releases on Feb. 15, however, the monster movie will be following in the footsteps of Paramount’s third SpongeBob movie on Feb. 8.
