Amazingly bad ass actor Javier Bardem is in talks to take on the role of ‘Frankenstein’ in Universal’s classic Monster movie reboot. The casting choices by Universal on the monster movies has been stellar so far and makes me extremely hopeful about the outcomes.

Deadline reports that he would join a roster that already includes Tom Cruise as The Mummy, Johnny Depp as The Invisible Man, and Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll. The latest news comes amid persistent rumors that Dwayne Johnson is being eyed to play Wolf Man. It is unclear how they would incorporate Frankenstein into the interconnected slate being overseen by Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan, and it’s not set yet that a stand-alone movie would be a part of the deal.

As of now, Universal has dated three movies: The Mummy, directed by Kurtzman, has a June 9, 2017 release date, and yet-to-be-announced titles are set for April 13, 2018 and February 15, 2019.

Variety broke news of Bardem’s casting today.
