MEG, the highly anticipation mega-shark feature, is now slated to hit theaters in August 2018 versus it’s previously reported March 2018 release date.

MEG is the latest in what seems to be a string of Shark Week-esque of announcements. Netflix concluding its streaming of the finned forefather JAWS, 47 METERS DOWN revealed it will hit theaters this June (Shark month…) and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES trailer premiers with ghost sharks on the roster. {All trailers below} It seems shark is the new black.

MEG Synopsis: A deep-sea submersible (part of an international undersea observation program) is attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and is laying, disabled, at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific. And the crew is trapped inside. Time is running out and expert deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao). Against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), Taylor will try and save the crew (and the ocean itself) from this unstoppable threat; a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. *What no one could have imagined is that years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below…bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time.

There are significant hopes for MEG. It is speculated this could very well be “the” shark film finally *paying true homage to a JAWS-like experience.  There will never be another JAWS but a strong contender would be nice. SO, we will just have to WADE and see (sorry…not sorry) Fins crossed, ok, we stop.
