Blade Runner 2049

When Ridley Scott gifted us with his stark vision of BLADE RUNNER in 1982, only a few heads turned to notice. Since then, it has grown to become legendary in cinema history, inspiring more than a few similarly toned films and characters. 35 years later, fans are ready to see the newest incarnation of the film.

New BLADE RUNNER trailer, images and we also hear from the OG himself, Mr. Harrison Ford. He sat down and elaborated on his feelings about his character Rick Deckard back to the big screen .

BLADE RUNNER 2049 has Scott sitting in the executive producer chair and helmed by Denis Villeneuve and features Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and Jared Leto. But most importantly, Harrison Ford returns with the original film’s character Rick Deckard. Variety has quoted Ford on the return of Deckard, who found himself in a world where the lines between humans and replicants continue to get blurrier.

I think it’s interesting to develop a character after a period of time — to revisit a character,” Ford said during a preview event at Imax headquarters in Playa Vista, Calif. “It was a very interesting working with Denis [Villeneuve], working with Ryan [Gosling]. It was very gratifying experience. The character is woven into the story that intrigued me,” Ford added. “There’s a very strong emotional context; the relationship between Deckard and other characters I found fascinating.”

Ford then talked about returning to the dark, gritty, dystopian future world that Philip K. Dick envisioned in his set of short stories:

I think it’s fascinating that the original film postulated a technology in many ways that we’ve surpassed, and in other ways, we’re not quite there. This film takes into account the thirty years that have passed. It references technologies that actually are in place now, and also — to me which is more interesting — acknowledges and deals with some of the ethical considerations technology presents us with.”

Seemingly in a mode to reinvigorate franchise characters he has iconified, in addition to Deckard, Ford has reprised his Han Solo role in the recent STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and is set to revisit the titular character in INDIANA JONES.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

BLADE RUNNER 2049, releasing to theaters on October 6, 2017. And we can’t wait!
