James Cameron is teaming with AMC networks for JAMES CAMERON’S STORY OF SCIENCE FICTION.
James Cameron is synonymous with some of the greatest genre films of all time. The first two TERMINATOR films, ALIENS, THE ABYSS, and countless others. He also holds the mantle of two of the highest grossing films of all time with AVATAR and TITANIC. In addition to films, mainstream audiences may not know that he is a groundbreaking documentarian. Including several deep sea dives to the Titanic for GHOSTS OF THE ABYSS. Then on to the battleship Bismarck for EXPEDITION: BISMARK and the deepest depths of the ocean for ALIENS OF THE DEEP.
In the midsts of planning his next four AVATAR sequels, Cameron will be diving into the documentary scene again. Teaming with AMC networks for JAMES CAMERON’S STORY OF SCIENCE FICTION. A six, one-hour episodes will explore the foundation of science fiction in TV, Film, and various media throughout history to modern times. Along with other experts in the field, Cameron will debate how we got here and where we’re going.
Announced during the Television Critics Association press conferences, The Wrap has Cameron speaking about the new project:
“When I was a kid, I basically read any book with a spaceship on the cover, and I saw 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY many, many times,” Cameron said. “The movie inspired me to become a filmmaker. I liked the special effects, but I really loved the ideas and the questions behind them: How will the world end? Will technology destroy us? What does it mean to be human?”
The new series debuts in 2018.
