One question: Will the ever popular Bella Thorne (SCREAM) return in another Amityville sequel or will she be killed off in the upcoming Amityville: The Awakening? This question rises after the release of one of the better shots dropped for the film features the rising star with a gash on her head embracing McKenna Grace to protect her from the demons of the infamous Amityville home.

As previously reported, the most recent Amity installment will be delayed once again, but this time in favor of a more profitable debut season: June 30th, 2017, otherwise known as the beginning of Summer. So I guess that’s great for Summer movie goers especially now that the sequel’s been dropped from a promising R-Rating to a dulled down PG-13 one, audiences are sure to flock[!]…well maybe. So anyway, the flick is said to follow “Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house”.

The Amityville franchise, which was inspired by actual events (look it up), spawned 16 installments not including the upcoming Amityville: The Awakening. Of the numerous installments only like 5 hit theaters (including the original) and the last one to hit theaters was the 2005 remake which starred Ryan Reynolds as the infamous and allegedly possessed George Lutz. The flick ranked in $65,233,369 at the box office while the original made a whopping $86,432,000 according to BoxOfficeMojo. Though the 2005 retelling did stand to be the most profitable installment since the original, it also remains to stand as one of the other underperforming installments earning exactly $56,590,169 less than the original earned. As previously set for release in the Spring of 2017 like its 05′ previous predecessor, Amityville: The Awakening’ will be released next Summer more than likely in light of Dimension’s hopes to make this a box office hit, because ya’ know…it’s Summer.

Directed by Franck Kalfoun (Maniac) co-written by Daniel Farrands, and Casey La Scalarelease and produced by Horror mogul Jason Blum, the flick will go up against the likes of Despicable Me 3, the third film in a widely popular animated franchise helmed by the voice talent of Steve Carell. Whether the delayed release is a good sign the film will be worth the wait or not, I’m pretty intrigued. Buuuut… that could be just because I’m a horror sequel addict

Starring Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and McKenna Grace the chiller is due out June 30th, 2017.

Quick prediction: This will be numbed again to the Fall of 2017 because of Despicable Me 3′
