Paramount and Platinum Dunes are in negotiations with Aaron Guzikowski to write their upcoming ‘Friday the 13th’ film according to an exclusive from Variety.
Aaron Guzikowski wrote the Hugh Jackman film ‘Prisoners’ which received a lot of critical success. If he were to take this job it would be the third reboot in his work load. He’s currently attached to the remake of Steve McQueen’s ‘Papillon’ as well as a reboot of ‘The Wolf Man’ for Universal.
The next ‘Friday the 13th’ will be produced by Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. This will be their second attempt at the ‘Friday’ series as they also produced the abysmal 2009 remake. Platinum Dunes has also made lackluster reboots of ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ and ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ so their track record isn’t so great with adapting classic horror film by most fans standards. That said they seem to be going in a different direction for this film and I’m hoping it turns out much better than their previous attempts.
