Movie deals are made and un-made daily, but the real mysteries that surround the Cecil Hotel and those stories being the backdrop to a feature film…now that is worth hoping for!
FX, AMERICAN HORROR STORY series Co-Creator, Ryan Murphy, has stated in several press junkets that season 5 of AHS was influenced heavily by all the true-life events that have taken place at the, Los Angeles based, Cecil Hotel. How could any horror enthusiast not be lured in with a dark history like this…
So will we see a feature after all? Deadline reports, THE BRINGING will center on an investigator (Michael Pena) who is looking into the death of a woman found dead in the water tank on the roof of the Cecil Hotel.
The project has gone through a number of drafts by various writers. Daniela Cristina Cretu and David Manpearl are also producing with Matt Tolmach, but THE BRINGING has just been put into turnaround at Columbia Pictures. Jeremy Lovering (Sherlock) had been on board to direct the project but is no longer.
These turn-of-events may have consequence in who plays the lead too. Michael Pena next stars in Will Smith’s COLLATERAL BEAUTY, which will be released December 16 from New Line and Warner Bros (he also is on the studio’s remake of the 1970s TV series CHiPs). Tolmach is, of course, hard at work for the studio on the remake of JUMANJI. He is working, too, on ROCK THAT BODY with Scarlett Johansson.
We will keep our fingers crossed. We all kinda dig it when the horror is based off real events. You know its true!
