Midnight Texas

There are a few things that directors will tell you are the most difficult to work with: extras, kids, and pets. With the upcoming television show, “Midnight, Texas,” the cast and crew get to enjoy at least one of these, an orange cat named Bob.

The cat plays Mr. Snuggles on the NBC show, a talking cat who is part of “True Blood” author Charlaine Harris’ envisioned universe adapted for the small screen. According to Deadline, the first Mr. Snuggles was played by either a cat named Snowball, or Fluffy depending on who you talk to, by an orange tabby named Sushi. Bob stepped in after Sushi, unfortunately, died in the course of shooting the season.

Of the character, cast member Dylan Bruce told NBCUniversal Press Day:

“He’s the Don Cheadle of the show – a scene stealer.”

Executive producer David Janollari say that Mr. Snuggles’ scenes are some of the most difficult to shoot because cats have a legendary disdain for direction. Midnight Texas, based on Harris’ books, and follows a remote Texas town that is a safe haven for vampires, witches, hitmen, and of course a talking cat. It also stars Francois Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Arielle Kebbel, Jason Lewis, and Peter Mensah. It is set to debut on July 25, 2017, on NBC.
