Twin Peaks On Showtime

We have entered the age of revivals, to some a delight, to others a groan. We’ve seen some of our favorite shows resurrected, from The X-Files to Talks From the Crypt, Mystery Science Theater 3000 and even Charmed. In the midst of all that nostalgia, one rises to the top, the upcoming rise of David Lynch’s horror mystery Twin Peaks.

Originally airing its two seasons from 1990 to 1991, it quickly established a cult following as audiences tuned in to watch quirky FBI Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) investigate the shocking murder of prom queen Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee.) Add to it an even quirkier cast, an ever-deepening mystery, supernatural forces in the background, and a cliffhanger that people can’t wait to see resolved even today, and you have one of the most unique and well-regarded television in history.

Fans scrambling for more of the small Oregon town of Twin Peaks don’t have to wait much longer, as the Showtime revival is quickly approaching its May 21, 2017, premiere date. If you’re new to the phenomenon and don’t have the time to watch both of the previous seasons on Showtime, the Twin Peaks YouTube channel has you covered.

Posted on the channel is a nearly three-minute video that goes into everything that made the original run so amazing. Starting with the discovery of Palmer and the introduction of Agent Cooper, the Sheriff Harry S. Truman, and the other inhabitants of the logging town, and the forces in the shadows that may be doing more than just pulling the strings.

Twin Peaks will be directed by David Lynch and stars Kyle MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee, Mädchen Amick, Dana Ashbrook, and many others. Fans will once again be treated to the mystery, humor, and writing that can only be delivered by Lynch. Check out the video, or if you have the time, check out the two seasons available now on Showtime. “Twin Peaks” new season airs on the premium network on May 21, 2017, at 9 pm.
