From chasing ‘The Walking Dead’ to a galaxy far away in ‘Star Trek: Discovery’.
Sonequa Martin-Green has signed up for double duty. The ‘Walking Dead’ series regular has just booked a lead role on the new CBS all-access series ‘Star Trek: Discovery’. All that’s known so far is that she will play a Lt. Commander.
‘The Walking Dead’ fans will no doubt see this as a sign that Sasha won’t survive season 7 but it’s worth nothing that ‘TWD’ has already wrapped production on the season and she could shoot both shows. It’s been done before by actors who have also served double duty on TV shows.
Michelle Yeoh, Anthony Rapp and Doug Jones were announced as the 13-episode series’ first cast members. Chris Obi, Shazad Latif and Mary Chieffo were cast this week as Klingons. Star Trek: Discovery was originally scheduled to debut in January and was pushed back to May, with The Good Wife spinoff The Good Fight now set to be the first scripted offering on CBS All Access, the network’s VOD platform.
Star Trek: Discovery hails from Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller and Roddenberry Entertainment. Executive producers include Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg, Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth. Berg and Harberts took over as showrunners for Fuller, who recently noted that he will not be involved in the show’s day-to-day after stepping down from his post to focus on Starz’s American Gods and other projects.
I love Sasha on ‘The Walking Dead’ and truly hope this does not spell out her demise. Very cool to see her fly off into space though.
Sneak peek at the return ‘TWD’ S7
This season has been a wild ride for ‘TWD’ fans and it was great to see Rick get his balls back at the end. Sasha’s been a bad ass as well taking care of Maggie and sizing up the world that’s left and how to take it back.
