Stranger Things kills again
Since its’ debut in July, “Stranger Things” has taken the world by storm, filling our hearts and minds with 80’s synthy/horror/sci-fi realness and giving us a whole new cast of characters to fall in love with and be absurdly concerned with.
If anyone is going to just sit there and pretend that the well-being of Eleven hasn’t become as much of a concern as Carl’s or Judith on “The Walking Dead” you’re a damn liar.
“Stranger Things” has become a new obsession and we, as pop culture junkies, never fail to completely squeeze every drop out of our new-found obsessions. “Stranger Things” is no exception.
Today, the Internet went positively bonkers when a new Christmas-themed “Stranger Things”/”Peanuts” mashup appeared to once again take our minds and hearts into the upside down.
“Merry Christmas Will Byers”, an animated short created by Leigh Lahav and Oren Mendez, places the loveable kids from “Stranger Things” into the animated “Peanuts”-verse without sparing any minor detail, down to the iconic Vince Guaraldi score from the classic “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” In the short, Will Byers does his best to get to the bottom of his post-upside down problems, seeking psychiatric help from an all-too familiar roadside doctor’s office, this time manned by a less-than-amused Eleven.
Eventually, Will comes to realize that his friends have provided him all the love and help he needed by being there for him in this trying time. And, as one would expect from a “Peanuts” cartoon, there’s a wonderfully absurd dance number set to the synth-goth “Stranger Things” theme.
