The Walking Dead Gets Season 9 Order And Producer Scott M. Gimple Moves On
Not really a big surprise for the TWD universe
AMC has given it’s biggest series a Season 9 pick up ensuring more zombies will slow walk into the future. The big surprise is that head writer and show runner Scott M. Gimple will move into a new role and let creative control of TWD go. He is handing the show over to Angela Kang, a long time TWD writer and now show runner for the future of TWD. Gimple is becoming Chief Content Oficer of TWD and it’s entire universe. FTWD and future spin-offs if they happen.
“This is an enormously important day for the entire The Walking Dead television universe,” said AMC boss Charlie Collier today with no small degree of spin. “We are proud to acknowledge Angela’s significant contribution to the series and to set a clear path forward for a ninth season under her direction. Further, with gratitude and admiration, we also recognize Scott’s broad impact on, and leadership of, the content that fuels our TWD universe,” he add of the third ex-showrunner of the series. “Together, we will dream bigger and more broadly than ever before.”
The battle all-out-war will continue with a TWf and FTWD crossover expected at the end of this season on screen. We now know Morgan is going on a walk-about and venture into the FTWD universe. I can only hope he returns to TWD at some point cause we love the character.
“The Walking Dead is a special show which started in an entirely different era of TV, and continues, in this new era, to confidently take chances to tell compelling stories that excite audiences and make them deeply connect with its characters, adapting Robert Kirkman’s brilliant comic book,” the soon to be ex-TWD showrunner said in a statement on Saturday. “As the show closes in on its tenth year, I’m honored to keep working with the talented, dedicated people behind and in front of the camera to make it all it can be, while expanding the world of The Walking Dead with new narratives like Fear the Walking Dead and a whole host of truly cool stories ahead. Angela is a big part of the heart and soul of The Walking Dead, and I’m thrilled to help facilitate her vision of the show’s next era.”
Season 8 returns next month and fans are waiting to see the conclusion of Carl’s fate and hopefully some Negan beatings.
