Carol almost died in season 3?!

It’s pretty nuts for fans of ‘The Walking Dead’ to think about the show without Carol (Melissa McBride). But in Robert Kirkman’s comic book she’s a weak person who ends up giving up and the walkers take her. Not the ass kicking fighter we know and love today.

In the middle of season 3 was about the time in the comic book that Carol dies and the shows writers and producers were discussing if it was time to let her go. Producer Scott M. Gimple decided he didn’t want to let her go and thought there was still so much potential for that character.

Greg Nicotero recently spoke with SFX Magazine about who got it instead –

“Not a lot of people know that when we were shooting season three, in the episode where T-Dog died, there was a moment where Carol was going to die in lieu of T-Dog’s character. At that point there was some concern in the writers’ room that they didn’t know where to take her character. So the fact that [showrunner] Scott Gimple and the writers have been able to craft this amazing journey for her just goes to show that there is a tremendous amount of story to tell for a lot of these characters.”

I can’t imagine the show without Carol and her cookies.

Sorry T-dog.
