Many people believe that there is a specific Hell for everyone that is created just for them. For some, it’s fire and lava, others it’s suspended in the air by chains forever, and for some it’s a line at Starbucks that never gets small for all of eternity. Dave Willis and Chris Kelly, some of the minds behind such greats as Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Squidbillies, have a different idea. They’re going to torture you with laughter. Eternal laughter.

“You’re Pretty Face Is Going to Hell,” a Williams Street production that airs on Adult Swim is a live-action comedy that places us in a Hell that anyone would find horrifying, a sea of never ending cubicles, with the big man himself, Satan, watching over everything from his office above.

Season 3 finds us back with kind-hearted demon Gary, played by Henry Zebrowski (Inside Amy Schumer, Wolf of Wall Street, Last Podcast on the Left,) as he navigates the workplace trying to come up with innovative ways to pass the time, improve soul gathering, and trying to stay in the good graces of his boss, Satan, played by Matt Servitto (Sopranos, Banshee, Brotherhood.)

Gary was first seen bringing newbie Claude (Craig Rowin) on board and showing him all of the demonic ropes, only to see his intern do things better and faster than him. We’ve seen him haunt the living, particularly his roommate, Lucas (Dana Snyder,) and members of his own family. He’s dealt with Krampus and even tried to crash Heaven. You’d think that would earn him a place next to the esteemed ruler of the underworld. Not even close.

Season 3 opens where we left Gray last, in the admissions area, processing new residents and trying to ease their transition to eternal damnation. After the last copy of the orientation video (VHS no less) breaks, Gary sets right off to record a new video that he thinks will be more entertaining to those left hanging by the hooks.

“Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell” doesn’t seem like it’s lost a step between season 2 and 3. While the show is known to go to various locations in the overworld and even the big hours upstairs, the show really shines when it focuses on its office comedy. Seeing how everyone attempts to bring meaning to an eternity behind a cubicle and how Gary tries to impress his boss by finding ways to do the least work with maximum results is the hilarious core of the show, and Season 3 looks like it’s continuing to build on that.

Zebrowski continues to bring to life a demon who is painfully unaware that he’s the butt of most jokes, and who takes any grain of power and expands it into overwhelming self-importance. Servitto’s deadpan delivery exudes a CEO who not only has seen it all, but is so bored with his flame-drenched “corporation” that he’s willing to put his underlings through anything for relief. And seeing all of the office workers scrambling about for even the smallest morsel of comfort or humanity makes us sadistic participants in a comedy that’s just as much about our own world as it is the underworld.

Coming back to Season 3 is like returning after a long and torturing vacation with the family, complete with screaming kids and roadside attractions that leave nothing but heartburn and headaches. You’re back in the office with your old buddies, suffering through the workday and laughing through every minute of it.

The first episode of “Your Pretty Faces Is Going to Hell” Season 3 debuts Sunday, October 23rd, at 11:30PM
